The PE Alliance has partnered with McElroy, Milford and Integrity to offer fusion training twice in 2025. Join us in Broken Arrow this March and September for an unparalleled training experience. Over the course of four days, attendees will receive comprehensive instruction in electrofusion, butt fusion and fusion operations. Participants can earn qualifications in both small and medium diameter butt fusion as well as electrofusion (EF 1and EF 2). These sessions are offered à la carte to suit your needs.
Details
This training week is intended for municipal staff, contractors and consulting engineering firms. This fusion training week is hosted by the PE Alliance and sponsored by our friends at Milford, Integrity and the fusion experts at McElroy. Butt fusion small diameter (Obtain your fusion card)
Cost: $500 normally $1100
Learn the proper techniques for fusing pipe sizes from 1/2″ CTS to 6″ DIPS using McElroy’s manual fusion machines. This course emphasizes precision and reliability, equipping participants with the skills needed for small-diameter applications in a variety of settings. The training utilizes ASTM F2620 as the fusion standard and follows the guidelines outlined in ASTM F3190 to ensure best practices and dependable results. Some work prior to the class is necessary online. This class is taught once this week and is only available on Monday afternoon and all day Tuesday.
Butt fusion medium diameter (Obtain your fusion card)
Cost: $650 normally $1100
Discover the proper operations for medium-diameter butt fusion using McElroy’s hydraulically operated machines, including i series TracStar® and rolling models, for pipe sizes ranging from 2″ IPS to 20″ OD. This session delves into in-ditch fusion techniques and strategies for overcoming the challenges unique to these environments. Following ASTM F2620 and ASTM F3190 standards, this course provides practical knowledge and hands-on experience to ensure strong reliable joints. Some work prior to the class is necessary online. This class is taught once this week and is only available on Wednesday afternoon and all day Thursday. The i series TracStar® will be taught.
EF small dia (Level 1) – (2″, 4″ and 10″ IPS ) (Obtain your fusion card)
Cost: $500 normally $900
The Level 1 (L1) Electrofusion Training Program provides technicians and installers with the knowledge and practical skills needed for smaller diameter applications The course covers foundational electrofusion principles and detailed procedures for installing couplers, branch saddles and flex restraints. This class will cover a sample EF repair spool. Designed for both new and experienced professionals, the training includes hands-on demonstrations, classroom instruction and certification valid for two years. Online work prior to class is not necessary. This class is taught twice this week. The first section is taught Monday afternoon and Tuesday AM. It is taught again on Friday all day.
EF medium dia (level 2) – (12″ couplers, saddles and 12″ IPS pipe) (Obtain your fusion card)
Cost: $650 normally $1100
The Level 2 (L2) Electrofusion Training Program is designed for experienced technicians and contractors working on projects requiring larger diameter EF. The course provides a refresher on L1 fundamentals and dives deeper into advanced techniques, addressing the unique challenges of larger diameter installations. This class will also cover a sample EF repair spool. Participants can expect classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, and certification testing, ensuring they are fully equipped to handle complex electrofusion projects, with certifications valid for two years. Online work prior to class is not necessary. This class is taught once this week and is only available on Tuesday afternoon and all day Wednesday.
Fusion Ops and Pipeline Integrity Seminar
Cost: $500
This class is a new offering that provides the inspector, engineer and project manager the tools he/she needs to observe, understand and collect data on fusion operations, pipe stringing, testing and installation of HDPE pipelines. This is a thorough and detailed session covering complicated and nuanced issues associated with inspection, construction observation, fusion operations and pipeline integrity. Specifically, this session covers resources, specifications, fusion operations, fusion integrity, fusion inspection of both butt and EF, DataLogger interpretation, the Vault, pressure testing, side bend testing, molded and fabricated fittings, repair and connections. If you take this seminar, McElroy will provide you with a $500 coupon for their inspection offering found online at McElroy University . Online work prior to the class is not required, but having a current butt fusion qualification is preferred. This class is taught once this week and is only available on Wednesday and Thursday.
